| Diane at Carole's grave with her mother Dorothy and brother Bill Diane Carole Ross Edmunds was Carole's oldest niece and her namesake. Her mother was Carole's sister Dorothy. Diane was born on October 14, 1938 in Long Beach, California. Carole was appearing in a play in New York but she quit the show so she could be at the hospital for Diane's birth. Dorothy and her husband Walter would have three more children - Buck, Sharon (my mother), and Bill. Carole loved them all but Diane was her favorite. They spent the most time together and Diane often stayed at Carole's house for weeks. Carole spoiled Diane with expensive clothes and perfumes. She started taking her to the studio when she made Cadet Girl and Diane waited in her dressing room while she worked. Diane looked so much like Carole that people thought she was her secret daughter! All of this attention actually bothered Walter because he didn't like Carole's movie star lifestyle. Dorothy said "Diane is like Carole in more ways than her appearance, too. The same desires, the dramatic flair. I can see the similarity in her everyday life, in the things she wants and says, in the way she acts." Diane was only nine when Carole died. At the funeral she cried and held on to her grandmother Clara. Diane became a homemaker and was a faithful member of the LDS Church. She and her husband Joe Edmunds had eight children (and more than 20 grandchildren). My aunt Diane Carole passed away on February 21, 1998 after a brave battle with cancer. ![]() Diane when she was a child ![]() Diane with her grandmother Clara ![]() Diane (in front) with her aunt Helen, Dorothy, her uncle Lawrence, and her grandmother Clara ![]() Diane with her grandfather Alfred (Photo from Tammie Hefty) ![]() Back row: Diane, Buck, Sharon Front row: Walter, Bill, Dorothy ![]() Back row: Bill, Diane (Bill's wife), Joe Edmunds, Clara (in red), Diane Carole (in blue), Dorothy, Walter, Sharon Front row: Diane Carole's children - Gary, Lori, Randy, Jodi, Bonnie, Bill, Alice ![]() Facts About Carole / Myths About Carole / Young Carole / Our Family Tree / Carole's Great Love / Carole - The Patriot / Carole's War Photos / Pictures of Carole / Carole's Jewelry Collection / Inside Carole's Closet / Memorabilia / Sharon's Memories Of Carole / Carole and Her Sister / Carole and Her Mother / Remembering Diane Carole / Carole's "Children" / Was Carole Murdered? / Visiting Forest Lawn / The Fans / Watch Carole's Movies / Carole On The Radio / Magazine Articles / The Family Today / Links, Books, and More / Homepage ![]() |
